"Don Millers musicianship and artistic genius deserve the utmost respect and attention from the Jazz World...
Cheryl Lambert...... KJZZ Jazz Radio, Phoenix Az.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Don got off to an early start in music. At the ripe old age of 10 he began his professional musical career; a career that had its roots in the 60's age of Rock, Soul, and of course Jazz! From this humble beginning, though long ago, Don has made great strides in music through much hard work and dedication. His avocation quickly became an obsession and in adulthood Don's career took on greater complexity and shape as he traveled throughout North America and abroad. He became the 'Bassist of Choice' by such artists and legends as Dizzy Gillespie, Ramsey Lewis, George Benson, Clarence Clemmons, Ira Sullivan, and pop sensations such as Britney Spears, O'Town, N’Sync and Enrique Iglesias. He continued to gather momentum as his artistic flexibility and vitality were soon recognized and sought after by a list of greats so vast it could easily fill this entire page. Although much can be learned in performance, Don’s background is also comprised of formal education and years of study under such distinguished teachers as Jamie Faunt (Founder, Faunt School of Creative Music, L.A., CA), Vincent Bredice (Professor, Hart Conservatory), John Novello (Author, The Contemporary Keyboardist), Lew Berryman (Author, Intonation Plus), and tutelage under the late Jaco Pastorious. Don’s versatile abilities have been sought after by such a plethora of music greats that it reads like a veritable 'Who's Who' in the fields of Jazz, Pop, Rock, Latin, R&B, and Contemporary Music. He is truly a music industry professional with a lifetime of experience in the creation of a style that is unquestionably innovative and fresh. He has taken a giant step forward as both a Composer and Arranger, breaking the bonds of the traditional Bassist by blending various harmonic and rhythmic flavors, thus creating a stylistic recipe unique unto itself. Don’s versatility and contemporary playing styles are further demonstrated on Piccolo, Tenor, and Fretless Bass as well as Five and Six String Basses, Electric Upright Bass and of course the Acoustic Upright Bass.
As evidenced in his music, Don's artistry is now in full bloom. Take the opportunity to sit back and enjoy this great artistry, which has been described as ............... “Very impressive...Thunderous Bass!!!” -Scott Yanow, L.A. Jazz Scene and “EXTRAORDINARY!!!” – JAM magazine. |
